For the 2024 NYC Marathon this November 3rd, Zeynep and I are continuing to raise funds to build the largest public children’s medical facility in Africa. With your help, we began construction on the 152-bed Shoe4Africa Children’s Cancer Hospital this past October in Eldoret, Kenya. Today, there are no other children’s cancer hospitals in sub-Saharan Africa, and we believe this directly correlates to why a staggering 9/10 children who are diagnosed with cancer in this vast region are dying, As a reference, this number is 1/10 in the states, where kids cancer hospitals are accessible.

Our new center will be located next to the public children’s hospital that we opened in 2015, where we recently treated our one millionth patient! This will be a teaching hospital, which will allow us change the narrative, and to improve on the services offered by the three pediatric oncologists that are currently treating Kenya’s 50-million population.
