I never had the opportunity to meet Juli Perry in life but I know her through the many stories I have heard about her. In 2006, Juli ran the New York City Marathon (while also doing a brutal round of chemotherapy). In the Perry household, there are several photos of Juli running and finishing the marathon. You can see she is in pain but more than that, you see fierce determination. I don’t know how anyone could see Juli, running her heart out, and not feel inspired. Juli died in 2010 after a decade long battle with cancer but her spirit lives on in the many lives she has touched. When I learned that Shoe 4 Africa would be building the first children’s cancer hospital in Africa and that this hospital would be named after Juli, I knew I had to be a part of the journey. In November of 2020 I will be running my first marathon. Yep, this out of shape and overweight mama will take approximately 62,000 steps, cross the NYC marathon finish line, and raise some serious dough for the Juli Anne Perry Children’s Cancer Hospital.
I have never done anything like this before and honestly, it’s going to be hard… So I am going to need your support. I am going to need encouragement and accountability and prayers and positive vibes. I am also going to need donations. I invite you to be a part of history and to be a part of Juli’s Legacy. I can promise it will be worth it! |
