My name is Esther Kim and I was born and raised in Florida but currently live in Dallas, Texas with my boyfriend and 2 cats. Growing up I was never active nor played any sports however after making one promise with a couple friends to train for a half marathon January 2024, my life changed forever.

I run for Shoe4Africa because both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer. My father passed away August 2024 due to his liver cancer and my mother is currently still fighting the effects of her stage 4 lung cancer after being diagnosed back in 2017.

I truly believe that without the support, and carefully planned treatment from both of my parents’ team of doctors, their journey could have been very different. Currently Shoe4Africa is building a children’s hospital that can give children a fighting chance with the right support they need.
