Running for Shoe4Africa: Building Sub-Saharan Africa’s First Children’s Cancer Hospital

My name is Ethel, and in May 2026, I’ll be running the Cape Town Marathon—not just for the challenge, but to make a lasting difference. I’m running to raise funds for Shoe4Africa, a charity building Sub-Saharan Africa’s first public Children’s Cancer Hospital in Kenya.

Today, nine out of ten children in the region diagnosed with cancer do not survive—not because their cancers cannot be treated, but because there is no dedicated hospital for them. Shoe4Africa is changing that by creating a world-class facility where children can receive life-saving treatment and compassionate care.

This new hospital will stand beside the Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital in Eldoret, which already treats more than 430 young patients every day, entirely free of charge.

Every mile I run is for a child who cannot. Every step is for a mother hoping for her child’s recovery. Together, we can give these children a fighting chance at life.

All donations go directly to the project—none to administrative or running costs.

Thank you for helping me turn every step into hope, healing, and life.

Ethel
