Thank-you for coming to my fundraising page you are GOOD! 🙂 I am running the TCS New York City Marathon on November, 7th for Team Shoe4Africa. Please help me to raise money for equipping the Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. It is the first public hospital of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. Shoe4Africa is a registered 501(c)(3) founded by friend, runner and philanthropist Toby Tanser. The charity devotes funds on improving health and education infrastructure in East Africa. When it comes to health provisioning we cannot ignore that there is a crisis is going on. One in eight children in East Africa are dying before the age of 5. 2/3 of those due to preventable and treatable diseases (pneumonia, diarrhoea, malaria, etc.) of which 80% will have never seen nor experienced health care like we are used to in the UK. Shoe4Africa is doing something about it by improving public health through many initiatives and by building a 74-bed hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. The Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital is the first public children and teaching hospital in East Africa. It is the largest project of its kind the Shoe4Africa has undertaken. August, 12th 2015 the Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital opened. I was lucky enough to see for myself and be able to attend the grand opening of the children’s hospital. It was a very humbling as well as very rewarding experience to finally walk through the corridors of the hospital and seeing kids getting the care they need. However, still more needs to be done and I am running the marathon to raise money for medical equipment for the hospital. I hope you will consider donating to this worthwhile cause. Any contribution will be of great help and 100% of your donation will go toward the hospital project. THANK YOU! |
