I am very excited and proud to be running the NYC Marathon this coming November on behalf of Shoe4Africa. Shoe4Africa is a non-profit organization that began by donating shoes and has since expanded its mission to focus on health, education, and empowerment.
Because so many African children were dying from treatable and preventable diseases, Shoe4Africa made the decision to build the first public children’s hospital in East & Central Africa. The hospital opened in 2015 and has been a great success, in the last year treating over 116,000 patients! Currently, the hospital is treating 318 children per day on average, with mothers traveling from all over Kenya because they know their child will be treated in a timely and respectful manner. The next step to this mission is to improve the hospital with better equipment, services, prevention education, and to offer free screenings.
By contributing to my fundraising page you will be helping to sustain the hospital’s daily operational costs and improvements, while simultaneously providing jobs and training to numerous community members. You will also be supporting the construction of new projects such as the first public Children’s Cancer Hospital.
This organization is very special to me, out of all my travels to over 15 different countries my trip to East Africa was the most eye opening and life changing. Any level of contribution is welcomed and greatly appreciated – Thank you for your generosity and support!
