shoe4africa - make the difference!
On November 7, we are thrilled to be running the 50th NYC Marathon. This is the first time that we are running a race together, and we can’t think of a better way to commemorate our return to the Big Apple. Right now, we are training six days a week and slowly building our endurance towards the big day!
The NYC Marathon is widely recognized as one of the world’s six greatest marathons. Traditionally, the race starts in Staten Island and continues through all five boroughs, finishing in Central Park less than half a mile from our new apartment.
We are honored to be running with the Shoe4Africa team. Shoe4Africa is a registered 501(c)(3) (EIN 02-0766269) that built the first public children’s hospital in East Africa & Central Africa, opening in 2015. The hospital treats over 400 patients per day. They’re now committed to building the first children’s cancer hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa. The hospital is critically needed as 9/10 kids diagnosed with pediatric cancer in East & Central Africa do not survive (compared to 1/10 in the US).
Our goal is to raise over $6,000, and 100% of funds raised will go to this important cause. Running in the 50th NYC Marathon will be an unforgettable experience; with your help, it will also be an impactful one!
If you are in the city, please come cheer us on during race day!
