shoe4africa - make the difference!
With the help of my awesome employer Oasis Physical Therapy, and along-side my family and friends, I have been inspired to dust off the running shoes and compete in the 2020 NYC marathon as part of the Shoe4africa team. The reason I’ve decided to undertake this challenge is simple; To me the world’s problems feel too big to change, and I often feel defeated by the sadness and pain that is seemingly inescapable. In Africa only 1 in 10 children diagnosed with cancer will survive, and those other 9 need my help. I can’t do it alone, but for the first time in as long as I can remember, I truly feel that I can help make a meaningful difference on a global scale.
With the money raised through the Shoe4africa campaign, and alongside nearly 50 of my family members each committed to raising their share, we are excited for Shoe4africa to build the very first Children’s Cancer Hospital in all of Africa. We’re especially excited that It will be named the Shoe4Africa Juli Anne Perry Children’s Cancer Hospital, in Honor of my Aunt Juli.
We will be breaking ground in early 2020 and have plans to construct a 100 bed capacity facility, and if this fundraising effort goes as planned we could potentially expand this to 150 beds.
Help in any way you can and let me know if you have any ideas of other ways to reach the goal.
