Dear Friends, On 5th November 2023, I will be running my first full marathon, and not just any marathon but the New York City Marathon. I am very excited to be participating in this race and even more excited I will be ‘running with purpose’ with team Shoe4Africa. As a mother and a humanitarian, I am proud to be running for the charity Shoe4Africa. Children diagnosed with cancer in America have a 90% survival chance while children with cancer in Africa have a 90% chance of dying. Shoe4Africa is committed to building the first of its kind children’s cancer hospital in Eastern Africa (a 152-bed public facility) thus giving these kids a fighting chance. Shoe4 Africa is a great organization that went from shoe donations to building public schools and in 2015, they opened the first public pediatric general hospital in East Africa which treats 400+ patients a day. It has been featured on CNN and is a registered 501 (c)(3) charity. Donations are tax deductible, employee matching is welcomed and 100% of the funds I raise will go directly to making this hospital a reality. Thank you for helping me reach my $3000 goal. All donations are welcome, no donation is too small. Thank you for your support to these kids in Africa and for making my miles count! Happy running, Djoeke |
