Hey friends and family! This November 5th I am running the New York City Marathon for children who can’t. I will be raising funds for East African children born into poverty and diagnosed with cancer. Shoe4Africa is an amazing organisation, helping to tackle such a terrible disease. 100% of donations will go towards building the 1st children’s cancer hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa (a 152-bed public facility), helping the 1 billion kids that live in this area. Currently the odds are against these children, with 9 out of 10 dying when diagnosed with cancers because of the lack of facilities and aid. Compare this to Australia and the United States, where 90% of kids with cancers are healed. Already, Shoe4Africa has built a children’s hospital in East Africa, helping 400+ patients a day, as well as establishing 5 free public schools to help educate these kids. Please help me in reaching my fundraising goal. No matter the amount, large or small, I am super appreciative to have such great friends and family who will support me, while raising funds for a great cause. Keep up to date on all my training runs on my Strava and Instagram! – Dave Smerdon |
