shoe4africa - make the difference!
I am energized and ecstatic to run the NYC Marathon 2020 for Shoe4Africa! Inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s book The Happiness Project, I began my own personal year long “happiness project” in April 2019. I picked a theme for every month to base happiness resolutions on. My theme for the last month is “Find My Own Calcutta” based on Mother Teresa’s advice:
“Stay where you are. Find your own Calcutta. Find the sick, the suffering, and the lonely right where you are.”
I have found my own Calcutta in running for Shoe4Africa and hope to raise $5,000 to build the first children’s cancer hospital in Africa by March 2020, which is the last month of my happiness project. However, donations will be accepted through October 2020.
As I have been long distance running since July, I have revived my relationship with God. I have gained a greater sense of self-love. And now I need your help to spread that love to these children in Africa. 9/10 children in Africa who have cancer pass away from it in comparison to 1/10 children who have cancer that pass away from it in the United States. Our team’s goal is to raise enough money to build the Juli Anne Perry Cancer Hospital in Kenya. If we raise enough money to fill the hospital with 150 beds, it is estimated that doctors can save 500 lives a year.
Please donate and contribute to saving lives.
