This November 5th I will be running the New York City Marathon to raise funds for Shoe4Africa, an organization that is committed to building the first children’s cancer hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa, a 152 bed facility. Nine out of 10 of these children are dying in sub-Saharan Africa when diagnosed with cancer because there is not a single children’s cancer hospital in the entire region of sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2015, Shoe4Africa opened the first public children’s general hospital in East Africa which treats 400+ patients a day. Every day 2000+ kids receive education because of the free-to-attend schools built by Shoe4Africa. These projects are funded mostly through fundraising for Shoe4Africa through the NYC Marathon. Most well known Kenyan marathoners are ambassadors of this organization including the current men’s and women’s world marathon record holders and every men’s world marathon major winner in 2022. And now me!
